Formula, assumptions and check example

The calculator combines goods, freight, insurance, an entered ad-valorem duty rate and other entered costs into an indicative landed total.

Calculation logic

  • goods value = supplier unit price × quantity; insurance = (goods + freight) × insurance %.
  • duty = (goods + freight + insurance) × duty %; total = goods + freight + insurance + duty + other costs.

Assumptions and limits

  • The entered duty rate and simplified base may not match the customs rules, Incoterm, VAT, tariff classification or valuation adjustments for a specific shipment.
  • Use customs-broker or authority calculations for an import declaration.

Worked check

500 units at €18, €850 freight, 1% insurance, 12% duty and €250 other costs estimate €11,392.32 total or €22.78 per unit.
